Round-trip pick-up is included from Catania and the surrounding area at around 7:30 AM The adventure starts from Rifugio Sapienza with the ascent by cable car to 2,500 m. This is where the actual trekking begins: you will cross lava landscapes, breathing in the fresh air of the high altitude and observing the energy of the volcano up close. You will explore a striking lava channel, a tunnel created by ancient lava flows, surrounded by shiny black walls that tell of millennia of geological history. The hike continues to an altitude of 9840 feet (3000m), amidst smoke, gas and incandescent rocks, until you reach the active craters of Mount Etna. You will find yourself before lunar landscapes and, looking out over the Bove Valley, you will experience intense emotions: the sun illuminates the expanses of rock and lava in a setting that is unique in the world.
