Description
Sofas, bathrooms, showers and changing rooms wait at the Ognina pier, where this boat tour from Catania to Acitrezza begins. A skipper steers the boat north along the coast for about two hours, with soft music on board, and the group is small: from one to ten passengers.
The shoreline is the star of the trip. Ancient lava flows have cut it into sheer cliffs and little hidden coves, and the stretch includes Ulysses' Cave, the Norman Castle of Aci and Lachea Island. The goal is Acitrezza, a seaside village with the Faraglioni, the basalt stacks called the Islands of the Cyclopes, tied to the legend of Ulysses and Polyphemus. Here the boat stops so you can swim.
A welcome aperitif is included, either sweet or savoury, with a glass of Prosecco and fruit. The destination along the Catania coast can also be chosen.
