Description
On this Etna quad tour you are the driver, not a passenger. The two-hour ride starts at Rifugio Sapienza and heads into the Etna Park on a quad bike. With a companion, you can swap seats at the handlebars whenever the group stops.
The route runs over ground reshaped by the latest eruptions, so you see how the shape of the volcano has changed. You pass the cones of old explosive craters, now extinct, and then ride through a stand of Etna pines. The guide tells stories about how the volcano began, and the ride ends at one of the park's roughly two hundred lava caves, which you enter.
- the quad itself
- 2 helmets with balaclavas and 2 jackets
- an expert guide with assistance along the way
To drive you need a valid category B licence and must be at least 18. Younger riders can come only as passengers with an adult driver, and from the age of 5 children ride under the driver's responsibility. A family with more kids than licensed adults can ask, right after booking, for a guide to carry a child on their own quad, subject to availability. A quad must never be booked for a minor to drive.
