Description
Trails between ancient and recent lava flows are where the Etna 4x4 jeep tour goes, leaving the main roads behind. Black volcanic rock alternates with patches where plants have slowly taken the ground back. The tour has no technical challenges, so it suits everyone, and a multilingual guide goes with you.
Pick-up is from Catania or Taormina, or you can meet the group in Linguaglossa. The day then goes like this:
- A short scenic walk among the side craters
- A lava cave explored with helmet and headlamp, both provided
- With the full-day option, a typical Sicilian lunch
- With the full-day option, the Alcantara Gorges and their basalt walls, entrance included
Poles and child carriers are free if you ask, and you can rent walking shoes; sandals and other open shoes are not accepted. For a dip in the Alcantara, pack swimwear, a towel and water shoes.
Tell the organisers beforehand about any food allergy. Babies are welcome in a carrier, and the day ends with a drop-off at your accommodation.
