Description
Two hours offshore from Acitrezza at sunset, engine at idle, waiting for the dolphins where they usually pass. A sighting, not a guarantee: we tell you honestly how the last few days went.
Leave the Acitrezza pier aboard the Polifemo, a small boat run by the same family since 2015, and head out to open sea for two hours in the last light of the day, from 5 to 7 pm.
We leave the coast and go where the dolphins pass. Engine at minimum, silence on board, eyes on the water. Sometimes they come right up to the boat after twenty minutes, sometimes they don't show at all: it's the sea, not an aquarium. Nobody can guarantee otherwise, and we don't. What we do is take you to the area where they are most likely to pass, at the time of day when we meet them most often, and tell you honestly how it went over the last few days before you book.
We never chase them and we make no noise: we stop and wait for them to come closer. It is also the only way not to disturb them. Life jackets are provided for all passengers.
On the way back, with the sun going down behind Mount Etna, we pass beneath the Faraglioni, the black lava sea stacks of the Cyclops Islands, and see the coast of Acitrezza from the open sea.
The trip needs calm seas to stay offshore: the skipper confirms the departure on WhatsApp the day before and, if the sea is not suitable, the trip is rescheduled or refunded. If you want the certainty of seeing something, choose one of our coastal tours: the sea stacks are always there.
